Granny
Typeface
Granny is a typeface that was created from a study of the architecture of the shophouses on Purvis Street, Singapore, in the loving memory of my grandmother who lived there for the better part of her life and spent more than a few afternoons chasing the toddler version of me down the back alleys making sure I was fed and fat.
Inspired by the arches and the columns of the colonial architecture, I overlapped the forms of the semi-circle and rectangle derivatives to form elements that make up the typeface.
