Philips Lighting (now renamed Signify) wanted to create a publication to analyse the growing effect of light on the human mood by drawing back to the history of light across ancient China as seen in design in architecture and other structures of life, specifically to align with the needs of the Chinese, hoping to establish the lighting culture in modern-day China. This was an initiative inspired by their product Philips Hue, to educate on the various hues of light and what they indicate in relation to human emotion.
